A Drugstore Haul

Welcome to haul instalment 2 of 3. As I mentioned in my recent Adore Beauty haul post, I treated myself to some (much-bigger-than-planned) retail therapy a few weeks back and my Priceline order finally arrived to my doorstep after a little "due to high demand" delay.

I'm not going to lie, when Priceline announced their huge sale a couple of days after I received my goods, I basically cried myself to sleep but I mostly purchased products that I needed to re-stock, I believe there's a word for that, genius: repurchase so I suppose I can't be too upset.. you know how sales are: always selling out of what you want.

Here is what I bought:

Fit Me repurchase number thousand over here. I use this baby for the "daily" look, reaching for my trust NARS Radiant Creamy for special occasions. This does provide nice coverage of dark circles, but I tend to use this as an under eye brightener over the top of Maybelline's Instant Age Rewind Concealer, rather than a concealer on it's own as the light shade is amazing for that purpose. It's easy to apply with it's doe foot applicator and creamy formula allows it to spread and blend beautifully, leaving a dewier finish, all the while feeling so soft on the skin and not accentuating any dry patches.

I ran out of nail polish remover a few weeks back, so this was a necessity for me. There are a few different types of polish remover from Cutex (strengthening, acetone free, etc.), but I love how the nourishing offering conditions my nails as much as a product containing harsh acetone can.

La Roche-posay Toleriane Riche
I have been on the hunt for the right moisturiser for me for years and years. I cannot explain to you how painful finding something that works for me has been, so I'm super excited to give some La Roche-posay a try after several blogger recommendations. This is geared towards dry, sensitive skin types which I'm hoping won't be too much on the 'normal' parts of my dry/normal combination, sensitive skin (try saying that five times fast) which can get a tad oily when too much moisture is absorbed in those areas.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel
This is probably my fourth repurchase. I just LOVE this moisturizer. It's a gel that has such a clever formula that continuously releases moisture throughout the day without going too far and leaving the skin looking oily and blegh. It has such a refreshingly light and non-sticky texture that my skin slurps right up. My dry patches have been getting the nourishment they need and my skin looks nothing but supple when I wear it. The scent is lovely. It actually reminds me of jellybeans and does not irritate my sensitive skin like many fragrances tend to.

Essie Nail Polish in 'Blanc'
I've always been a fan of the how chic white nail polish looks and I've had my eye on this exact polish for so long but never actually bought it. Essie, as we all know, is an amazing polish brand so this was a no-brainer to add to my cart to bump up the price up to qualify for free shipping.

I have about 400 make-up brushes but most of them are face brushes. My eye brush collection is seriously lacking - I do not have a fluffy one that is amazing at blending eye shadow in to and over the crease other than the trusty brush that comes in Urban Decay's Naked palettes. I definitely wanted to have one on-hand without the need to dig through my palettes. You can see the quality of this brush just by looking at it and it's narrow, tapered design should make applying shadow to my crease a dream.

I bought this brush to be used as more of a general blender on the lids and/or packing brush. Upon receiving it, it does look as though it may be a tad too sparse in the bristle department to be used effectively as a packer, but it is nice and fluffy, so it should still make a lovely blender.

All in all, I'm more then happy with my little haul (despite the fact that I paid non-sale price for it) and I can't wait to give the few products that are new to me a try.

Are there any products here that you'd like to try for yourself?

Stay tuned for my (soon to arrive) American brand haul!

As always, this post has not been sponsored in any way, meaning that none of the items mentioned have been sent to me, endorsed or paid for by anyone other than me, myself and I.

  1. I used to purchase the Fit Me concealer all the time, but for some reason I stopped-seeing this post made me want to go repurchase it next time I'm at Target!

  3. I just recently started letting my nails grow out, which means I've been painting them, so I think I need to give that nail polish remover a try! And the concealer, if it works as an under eye brightener! I swear I haven't slept in what feels like 12 years and it shows!

  5. I can't visit a drugstore without walking out with 10 more items than I need, haha!
I recently bought that exact nail polish. I also think white polish looks so chic. I've been meaning to use it the last few times I've painted my nails but I'm waiting for the "perfect occasion" to wear it lol

  12. Am eyeing for your Neutrogena boost eye cream, and of course your book! Is that book good to read?

  13. A nice little haul, don't be too upset about not getting them for sale, the items that would have been cheaper would probably have been sold out! That sale was crazy!
Good luck with your new moisturiser, let us know how it goes! Xx

  14. I really should add a few more blending brushes to my collection. Eye shadow is the one thing I usually skip if I'm limited on time. I hear you on white nail polish. I usually go for an off white with a sparkle.

  15. I love the brand la roche posay, amazing quality and the price point is not that bad! My boyfriend has a very ( and I mean very) sensitive skin with dry patches and it's the only brand he can stand.

  16. Boy if you this is part two of 3, I can't wait to see what's next! Looks like you got some great products to experiment with.

  18. Love finding good drugstore buys for sure. I've tried the neutrogena lotion, pretty good.

  19. Ooooo, I need to try out that nail polish remover. I hate the way my hands and skin feel after I use the stuff I've been using!

  20. I cannot stay away from clearance and amazing sales. When my hubby goes shopping with me you can hear him groaning as I hut down every clearance section to restock, even though most of the time we don't need to. Still getting a deal and stoking up pays off in the end.

  21. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel is also one of my favorites. I love moisturizers and this product meets my expectation.

You have so much great products there. However, since I am using this Neutrogena cream that is my favorite for sure.

  25. Aha I also stopped using Fit Me for a while, but I picked it up again and couldn't figure out why I ever stopped. Definitely re-live your Fit Me days if you can. :) x

  26. It's got such a pretty "prop" look to it - I love it. I'm a huge believer that drugstore beauty can be just as pretty as high-end. You just have to find the right products. :) x

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'm a huge fan of a conditioning nail polish remover - this one works a treat for me. :) The concealer is definitely worth a try, too, if you ask me x

  28. You have good taste, Chrissy. :P There's nothing I love more than a good drugstore product. :) x

  29. Oh man. Story of my life, Krysta. Story of my life. Yessss! I've been rocking white nails since I bought it aha, - such a pretty look. x

  30. Ahaha it's the story of my life, I swear. :P Definitely do give Age Rewind a try if you can - I highly recommend. :) x

    ReplyDelete
  31. Yesss! I truly believe that you can get just as good, if not better, quality from the drugstore as you can high-end. x

    ReplyDelete
  32. Priceline is a great place to start, however, it's unfortunately an Australian store. I'm not sure if they post internationally, but it may be worth a look. :) x

    ReplyDelete
  33. I like to do what I can to help aha. :P x

    ReplyDelete
  34. Your friend has good taste aha. :P It's definitely a great product, I'd highly recommend giving it a try. ;) x

  35. It's amazing, girl! Their darker shades are quite limited, though. Fingers crossed you happen to match what they have to offer! x

    ReplyDelete
  36. Aha I wouldn't recommend How to be Parisian Wherever you are for the story (it's more of a satirical look in to the stereotypical Parisian's life), but if you read it with a light heart and in good humor, it's enjoyable. :) x

    ReplyDelete
  37. That's true! I'd rather pay a couple of bucks more and actually receive what I want, rather than have everything sell out before I can even log in aha.
I think I'm quite enjoying the moisturiser so far. We'll see how it goes over the next few weeks before I can 100% confirm my feelings. :) x

    ReplyDelete
  38. Me too, girl! I'm pretty lazy, so eye shadow only really gets used on a special occasion. Having some good blending brushes is sure helping me during the times that I DO wear it. Ooooh! Sparkly off-white nails would look gorgeous! x

    ReplyDelete
  39. I've heard how amazing La Roche Posay is for sensitive skin types - here's to hoping that it works for me just as well as it does for your boyfriend. :) x

    ReplyDelete
  40. I may have gotten a little too excited when it came to online shopping haha. Your're right, though. I can't be too mad, I've got some great products. :) x

  41. A nail polish remover that is nourishing would be a great addition to your collection if you like to change your colour regularly. :) I hear you, there. My brushes were horrible up until recently aha. x

    ReplyDelete
  42. I'm allllll about saving that moolah, and finding great quality products at the drugstore. ;) x

    ReplyDelete
  43. Yesss! Nail polish remover, especially ones that contain acetone (most of them), can be super harsh on the skin and nails - one that nourishes is an amazing addition to your collection. :) x

    ReplyDelete
  44. Hahaha yessss, Allyson. You sound exactly like me. :P x

    ReplyDelete
  45. A woman after my own heart. :P I'm glad it works for you too! x

    ReplyDelete
  46. I'm glad you enjoy Neutrogena's Water Gel too - I'm yet to find someone who doesn't like it. :) x

    ReplyDelete
  47. If you ask me, there's nothing better than coming home after a long day at work to your online shopping order at your door. :)

    ReplyDelete
  48. Oooh! I've heard good things about Wet n Wild's concealers. Getting them to Australia has proven to be a pain-in-the-butt, though. :( x
