May 2018 Beauty Favourites

My favorite makeup, skincare and beauty products in May

One: Maybelline Fit Me! Powder in "Nude Beige"
You may remember that I was concerned about the "glitter" that I could see in the pan when I first opened this but as soon as I tried it out, my worries went away. The "glitter" is much more of a reflect - it's definitely not chunky like a glitter typically is. Instead, it gives a lovely, healthy-looking glow to the face that I've been loving lately. I have dry skin, so I only use a little on my forehead, nose and cheekbones to keep oils at bay (which it does all day) but as the formula itself is so incredibly light, it means that I don't look dry or cakey in those areas, which has been a hard thing for me to find in a powder. In saying that, it is also a little chalky - there's a fair amount of kick-up when you put your brush to it, but it really is a lovely powder.

I've always loved a matte finish, but I've really been enjoying a dewier look lately. Because I have dry skin (take a shot every tim e I mention dry skin in this post), a dewy finish is much harder for me to get to work but this spray has really been amazing in helping me to achieve it. Not only is it far less expensive than Tatcha's Luminous Dewy Skin Mist, but it also doesn't make you look oily, which Tatcha can do. I need to take a minute to talk about the mist, too. THIS. HAS. THE. BEST. MIST! It sprays such a gloriously fine, long spray - I'm obsessed.

I like to use a lip scrub before I apply a liquid lipstick as I have perpetually dry, often flaky lips. I have a handful of LUSH lip scrubs, so this was a completely unnecessary addition to my last Jeffree Starr order but I couldn't help myself - Blue Raspberry Sucker sounded so good (he has a bunch of other flavours too!). Not only does it taste even better than I had imagined, but it also contains a bunch of nourishing oils which leave my lips feeling soft and smooth.

As a dry skinned gal (you're probably dead by now), Winter wreaks havoc with my skin and this hand cream has been my saviour all month. It's so moisturising! It's a deliciously rich formula that is quite thick. Although it does take some time to sink in to the skin (use it before bed - you'll thank me in the morning), it leaves my hands and elbows (and my feet, on occasion) feeling soft, moisturised and protected.

bought this brush with the intention of using it for under eye powdering. Have I use it in that way AT ALL? No. Once I took it out of the packaging, I immediately thought to use it to apply highlighter, and it's amazing at doing exactly that! It's the perfect size and shape for cheekbone highlighting (and under eye powdering - I really have to give it a go). It's nice and soft and the perfect density to pick up a good amount of product, blending it in to the skin beautifully.
