This month's box was: 'Beauty Reboot', I guess in honour of Spring finally gracing us with her presence (yay). I sure know I'm more than ready to shake off those Winter shackles and have myself a little pamper sesh to ring in the new season.

Coffee Organics Coffee Peppermint Body Scrub

Coffee scrubs seem to the 'the thing' nowadays, and I'm somehow yet to try one out. I suppose they all claim to do the same things: boost circulation, help with cellulite, assist skin renewal, but with the addition of peppermint oil, I'm excited to give this particular scrub a whirl.

MooGoo Cover Up Buttercup SPF 15 Moisturiser

It's time to amp up the SPF now that the days are getting sunnier (even though you should wear SFP all year 'round - whoops). With an SPF 15 rating and the addition of Zinc, it's perfect for Springtime wear. I've actually stated my love for MooGoo in one of my recent favourites posts, so I was stoked to discover one of their samples in my box. This doesn't irritate my sensitive skin, nor leave a greasy residue in it's wake but the fact that all the ingredients are natural (throughout all their products) is the biggest tick of approval in my book.

Carmex Jasmine & Green Tea Lip Balm

Good old Carmex. The smell is mild and pleasant and it goes on nice and thick (yet somehow not sticky), meaning it has some serious staying power, and is insanely moisturising on my Winter-dry lips. With SPF 15, I know I'll be using this throughout the next few months.

Jurlique Purely Age-Defying Firming Treatment Mask

This paper mask claims to improve the plump-ness of the skin and help reduce the seven signs of aging. The ingredients list shows that this is absolutely packed with natural botanicals and the fact that it also covers the neck area as well as the face impressed me. I've always been too lazy to give myself a facial regularly, but I'll be trying this one out as soon as I'm able.

Nude by Nature Pressed Mineral Cover

Despite seeing their products all over my beloved Priceline, I've not once tried any of Nude by Nature's products but I must say, I'm impressed by this powder. It delivers a lightweight, semi-matte finish and the 'medium' shade I received happened to be a perfect match for my complexion. It provides a medium coverage, which I can easily build to full-overage if need be without looking cakey. I may just swap out my old trusted Stay Matte powder for this bad boy in the future. Maybe.

No lengthy introduction today. I wanted to smash this one out before my holiday; I apologise for the shitty phone camera photos (again, I'm rushing).

Pil'aten Collagen Lip Mask

This whole thing is written in Chinese, so I have no idea what's in it which makes me nervous, but the packaging's cute and supposedly, it's used by celebrities including Lady Gaga and Jessica Alba, so it can't be too bad, right? It's designed to restore moisture for softer, plumper lips, you just have to sit with a huge mask over your mouth for 20-30 minutes, which is quite a commitment - it better pay off. I'll give it a go because soft lips are life, but if I waste valuable time not eating for nothing, Im'ma be pissed.

Original Source Skin Quench Shower Gel

Vegan friendly = Christie's tick of approval.
I received an Original Source shower gel in my February box and I loved it! This blackcurrant one, though, smells amazing! Like those purple snake lollies. Oh man! It's safe to say that I was stoked to receive a full size bottle of this stuff. With the help of natural oils, my skin was left feeling soft and nourished and was lightly (again: oh man!) all day.

Chapstick Night Repair

I applied this right before bed last night and woke up with the softest lips this morning. It has no scent and a thick and sticky consistency, which I don't mind of my overnight lip products - I feel it stays on better while I roll around like a madman.

Max Factor Masterpiece Max Mascara

I've always been a fan of Max Factor, so I was pleased to see this full sized (!!!) tube of their mascara in my box and tried it out the very next morning.

I am all about length when it comes to eyelashes and this definitely lengthens. It also volumizes and defines the lashes better than most mascaras I've tried. Unfortunately It doesn't layer too well, clumping pretty badly by the second coat, but I found that one coat was enough for a daytime look. I don't love it for my bottom lashes, but I found it did the job if I applied just a tiny bit. It wears for hours, holding a decent curl for hours without flaking, and despite this not being a waterproof formula, it didn't smudge or run during the (rainy) day.

Skin & Co Roma Truffle Therapy Serum

The name just sounds so luxurious, and the fact that this is made with truffles makes me feel all kinds of fancy (plus, dat $100 price tag).

I applied it as a base under my moisturiser to amp up the hydration and boy! It was heaven! It has a runny, milky consistency, which is slightly tacky to touch which was great under my foundation because everything adhered nicely. It absorbs in to my face super quickly and has a delicate smell, leaving it velvety soft and more even. I wish it was cheaper, I really do. I'd definitely go out and buy the full sized bottle. At least a little goes a long way! I can see this sample lasting me a while.

July BellaBox Unboxing

This month's box is aptly named 'Beauty Wanderer' and is all about travel.

Fitting since July quite the popular time for us Aussies to head overseas to escape the Winter weather. This month's bounty consists of travel suitable products - all of which I would consider a suitcase necessity.

Here's what I got:

ModelCo Shadow Stick in 'Costa Rica'

Despite looking like a mini tampon (sorry), the slide-up container is incredibly convenient. The creamy eyeshadow glides over the eyelid wonderfully and is easily blended out. This shade, with it's touch of shimmer, is the perfect inner eye highlight when building a smoky eye. For such a light shade, I was actually surprised by how pigmented the formula is. Being both buildable and crease resistant, it also looks great on top of powdered eyeshadow for that extra pop, and also doubles as an excellent highlighter for your cheekbones and brow bone.

Nuxe Cleansing Milk with Rose Petals

This has such a luxurious name.

I've tried several creams and milks over the years and they have all left an unpleasant waxy coating on my face, even after rinsing with water. This one feels great on my skin and rinses clean though the directions say you can just tissue it off. It has an rich, smooth texture and claims to cleanse and remove make-up while protecting the skin from dryness with a non-oily finish. I found this to be super gentle on my sensitive skin, which was left feeling very smooth, and nourished, minus those tight, dry spots around my nose and mouth which have always been an issue for me. As far as the make-up removing properties, it isn't great at removing eye make-up of any kind - even the non-waterproof variety. I'd recommend using a good micellar solution beforehand and following with this as a facial cleanser, rather than make-up remover. The 'Rose Petal' line is geared toward more "mature" skin but I think it would be great for sensitive skin of any age. I'm not a huge fan of rose scents, however in this product has only a light, mild rose smell - it's clean and pleasant and does not bother me at all.

Bioderma Atoderm Intensive Soothing Emollient Care

This claims to deeply nourish skin, restructuring the barrier, leaving it soft and moisturised and more resistant to atopic skin conditions (eczema etc.). The texture is thick, creamy and there is no scent, making it perfect for sensitive skin. On top of being sensitive, my legs have always been dry and unbearably itchy and no matter how much cream I slather on, nothing has worked long-term; I tried this last night and it instantly calmed the irritation and stopped the itch - heaven. The cream was instantly absorbed deep in to my skin where it's needed most and didn't leave a waxy or greasy residue. It spreads out so easily, a little bit goes a long way. I'm definitely buying myself a full sized bottle as soon as possible. This is actually a Godsend.

Palmolive Body Polish Shower Gels in 'Passionfruit' & 'Strawberry'

These adorable 45mL bottle are the perfect size for my gym bag.

I love how natural Palmolive has gone with their body polish line - each bottle contains real fruit extracts, which equals antioxidants, and gritty seeds, which equal great exfoliators. These are somewhere between sugar scrubs, and regular shower gel - they are far more gentle than a rough sugar scrub, but far more effective at exfoliating those cells than a regular gel. These lather up so luxuriously and my skin was left feeling smooth and moisturised. The smell? Ah-mazig! They smell so good I could eat them (note: do not eat shower gel), and the cheerful scent follows me around all day.

Neutrogena Make-up Remover Cleansing Towelettes

I've always tried my best to avoid make-up removing wipes. They're sticky, they sting, they strip your skin.. they're not fantastic. I rarely need wipes as I have gotten pretty good at washing my face before bed every night but I've always got a pack on my table on the rare occasion I'm feeling too lazy (read: drunk). These wipes are far more gentle than any other brand I've tried, and are pretty decent at removing make-up. The wipes themselves are soft and the slight residue they leave behind feels like a lotion, not greasy or sticky at all and absorbs quickly, leaving my skin unexpectedly soft and moisturised. These are scented, however, so it can be a bit scary around the eyes if you're sensitive to that kind of thing. Despite the scent, these didn't necessarily sting my eyes (although a bit of scrubbing was required to remove my waterproof mascara). I could feel a tingle, but there was no unpleasant burn. Best of all, a tenderness I had noticed around my eyes when using other wipes wasn't present at all.

Essie Nail Polish in 'Haute in the Heat'

Another nail polish to add to my ever increasing pile. Essie is by far my favourite nail polish brand, so it's always a welcome addition to my BellaBox. The colour I received is what I could best describe as raspberry. It's a bright, hot pink that would look fabulous during the Summer.

All in all, I definitely enjoyed this month's box. It came in wonderful time considering I'm going away in three weeks, I don't doubt that most of these samples will make their way in to my luggage, and anything left over will surely become a gym bag/handbag staple.

June 2015 BellaBox Review.

This month's box theme is Winter Warrior, and it couldn't have come at a better time!
My skin is dry. My hair is frizzy. My lips are chapped. I've lost all colour.
Winter is not my friend, guys. Not my friend at all.

Universal Cosmetics Tint Stick in 'Siren'

I was excited to see this amongst this month's goodies because it's a tint made for dry lips - a perfect Winter pick-me-up, adding moisture and a pop of colour when I'm feeling blergh.
First off, I love the shade! 'Siren' is an opaque cherry red that looks great both as a subtle, pinky sheen, or built up and up to a darker red. Because it’s a tint (as opposed to a crayon or stick), the formula is incredibly long lasting - honestly, the colour lasts for hours, you just need to top up the moisture levels during the day with a good lip balm. The pen dispenser is unlike anything I've seen before. It's made of a stiff, flexible foam that flicks back and forth over your lips on application. The formula is quite thin and inky so you've got to go over yours lips a few times to even out the colour if you want a bolder pout. Even after all those layers, it still felt light and set in without any wetness or stickiness.

Clean & Clear Morning Burst Skin Brightening Cleanser

I always love receiving a full sized product.
Oh how I miss the sunshine - I'm beginning to look hideously sullen so anything that'll brighten up my Winter complexion is alright by me. In all honesty, the brightening claims sound a bit over-reaching to me, but I'm definitely not opposed to trying a cleanser that contains caffeine and claims to wake me up. I can understand why they named this 'morning burst' - It smells wonderful and the fresh, orangey scent puts me in a good mood in the morning (which is not an easy feat). While I'm not sure how brightening it is, it provided the right balance of clean and not being too drying. My face did feel a little tight afterwards, but having combo/sensitive skin, I've not found any cleansers that work for me. Ever. Although I'm not in high hopes, perhaps regular use of this cleanser will showcase it's brightening properties. I'm not impartial to give it a go. 

Physiogel Daily Moisture Therapy Cream

Being specially formulated for dry, sensitive skin aiding skin repair and moisture retention, this tiny tube of joy is calling to my parched skin. I tried a small amount on my hands and it kept them soft and moisturised all day long. It's a thin consistency and spreads easily, absorbing into the skin immediately without leaving any residue, greasiness or clogging of the pores. Being for sensitive skin, it rightly contains no fragrance and is extremely gentle on the skin. It also worked wonders as a facial moisturiser. This is an all-over body moisturiser, and I can definitely vouch for that, but as I only got a small tube, I think I'll stick to small, dry areas such as the elbows and knees, and to my face.

Jean Patou Eau de Joy Perfum

Okay, I have to start off by saying, this tester vial sucks. I steer clear of vials lacking a spritzer pump. Lids over perfume is a bad idea - you open with too much force, and BAM half the liquid flies out. That's actually how I found out that this perfume is incredibly long lasting.. My sheets still smell of it, very strongly too. It's a white floral, powdery-musk scent; It's not a scent I'm too fond of, so I gave it to my mum.

John Frieda Frizz Ease Unwind Curls Calming Crème

I NEEDED THIS. The freezing cold mornings and days spent blasted by a heater have my hair doing all kind of scary, frizzy things and I love John Frieda everything. I put it in my wet hair, brush it through and let it air dry to get rid of the frizzies or I'll smooth over my dry hair  to tame any fly-aways and to add moisture on a particularly dry day. This stuff makes my hair look "done", but I don't have to do anything! As it starts drying, the product can get a little crispy when used on dry hair, but I just scrunch or brush the crispness out; nothing to it. I was amazed at how soft my hair was and I don't need to use any other products with it. No more hairspray! Smells good too. KA-CHING

We actually have this very shampoo at home.

The smell, guys! AMAZING! Unfortunately, although it does leave my hair feeling silky, I find it's too rich for me, and I'll be unusually oily come midday the next day. Another gift to mum.


All in all, this was a great box! I'm thrilled with the products I received, and I'll be putting majority of them to good use. Like. Now.

May 2015 BellaBox Review.

My expectation of BellaBox has been pretty low lately..

I expect to pay for a blue cardboard box and a few products I might want to use, but this and last month's boxes have both really impressed me.

This month's theme was Sugar Fix.

Chella Ivory Lace Highlighter Pencil

I was incredibly excited to see a highlighting pencil in this month's box. Having never dabbled in the world of highlight and contour, I've been overwhelmed with where to start product-wise. It's a fresh peachy-nude coloured pencil that will brighten and visibly lift your eyes when lightly applied on the brow bone, dark circles, blemishes and red spots. I used it this morning on the inner corner and waterline of my eyes and it has a great, creamy texture -- thick but not greasy or too soft and glides on super smoothly. It blends nicely, but does require you putting in the time to really blend it in and warm in into your skin, otherwise it can look a little cakey. I attempted to use it as a highlighter along the bridge of my nose and cheekbones but seeming as it's nude and not white, it didn't give me the result I was expecting from a highlighter. It worked pretty well as an under eye concealer, however.

Palmer's Moisture Rich Night Cream

This is probably the fourth Palmer's product I've received in about two months - Not that I'm complaining, Palmer's products all seem to work wonderfully for me. I haven't tried this one yet, but it claims that nightly use will leave skin looking more radiant and youthful, promoting a smoother and softer complexion, while working to heal the skin and help with scarring. I'm always down to try a product that will give me soft and glowing skin, minus the effort so I'm one keen bean to give this a try.

Eye of Horus Goddess Pencil

I'm pretty sure I've already found my go-to eyeliner, but the Eye of Horus Goddess Pencil is definitely something I'd like to keep using. The pencil is available in a huge range of colours, I just wish BellaBox had sent me a black one. Why they chose to send me a forest green shade, I'll never know. Regardless, I gave it a shot, and although I hate the green on me, the pencil itself is hard to beat! It's truly waterproof and has a super smooth and creamy consistency so there's absolutely no tugging or dragging, and once dry, the colour doesn't budge for about 8 hours, though it does fade a little on the waterline after about 4 hours, but that's to be expected from a kohl liner. I love that it comes with a smudging tip! The formula is perfect for smudging before it sets; using the tip makes it so easy to create a smoky look, or to blend and shade on the entire lid. The only downside I can see is the price. One pencil will set you back around $30AUD and the fact that it requires sharpening, means you're losing unnecessary product, but I can definitely overlook that for the colour payoff and staying power.

Real-U Control + Face Gel

I was a little hesitant to try this out, purely because my sensitive skin's reaction to most facial products is so unpredictable, but upon reading that this particular gel is hypo-allergenic, I decided to give it a go. This was designed to decrease acne and control oily and acne prone skin; Although I wouldn't say my skin is oily enough to need a product specifically targeted at problem skin, it was both gentle and effective. I've used the whole tube and it's definitely controlled any breakouts and has actually reduced the size of my pores, all without drying or irritating my face.

Impulse Romantic Spark Perfume

I do love that Impulse has brought out 'perfume in a can'. The convenience of a spray, the long-lasting properties of a perfume and boy was this definitely long-lasting! I could still smell it on my wrists come home-time. However I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I'll choose fruity scents over florals any day. In saying that, I definitely do enjoy the scent of Romantic Spark, it's wonderfully feminine and earthy. Not something I'd go out and buy for myself, but lovely nonetheless.

Not reviewed: Sunescape gradual tanner (bonus item)

This box was good value for money. I'm excited to see what June's box has in store.

April Bella Box Unboxing.

 I missed reviewing last month's Bella Box because it honestly wasn't worth the time; seriously, not even worth writing a bad review. I came so very close to cancelling my subscription because I'd been pretty disappointed the past few months, but I'm glad I didn't. This box has restored my faith; three full-sized products, no junky 'filler' items, and all things I'd actually use - Hooray!

Marc Daniels Blue Cypress Blonde Smooth Ends Treatment

My hair is naturally blonde, so I don't have the bleach fried hair this duo was intended to assist. What I do have is hair that is constantly straightened and blasted by heaters (especially now that the weather's getting colder) so it's always on the dry and brittle side, especially my ends. This boasts a protective and nourishing formula, that fights unwanted tones with the help Australian Blue Cypress tree oil, which provides a blue pigment that helps to counteract brassy and yellow tones. I'm always looking for products to fix my (increasingly ugly) ends and I'm down for a boost in my blonde department without the dye, so I'm excited to give this a try.

Joico Moisture Recovery Shampoo & Conditioner

I used the shampoo alone at first, and I did feel a little strength and moisture come back to my dry hair but I don't feel as though it did anything overly amazing. That was until I used both the shampoo and conditioner together. Aside from the fact that this stuff smells amazing, they work wonders as a pair! My hair still feels light and moisturized and has been that much more manageable since. I would probably not recommend this for super fried hair as it's not moisturizing enough or limp/thin hair because it does make hair more "flat", but it's a great combo for semi-damaged hair.

Nivea Lip Butter in 'Caramel Cream'

I was excited to see this in my delivery this month as my lips are doing something a bit scary with this cold weather. First off, the caramel scent is pretty delicious. It's very a smooth and buttery  formula which means it's a little greasy if you use too much, but used sparingly, it melts right in to my lips and leaves them feeling soft and moisturised with a shiny glaze. I'm not a fan of the unhygienic, pain-in-the-ass to open tin but I'd overlook that for the nourishment it delivers.

Yes to Carrots C Me Shine Lip Gloss in 'Playful Nude'

Instantly, I loved three things about this gloss: The name (I can't even), the fact that it's 95% organic, and the shade. It looks a little orange-y in the tube for my taste, but it comes out as such a beautiful and subtle peachy nude on the lips. It's not sticky at all, rather too on the thin side so it hasn't got the best staying power, but it is smooth and conditioning. I was surprised to learn about it's peppermint-y smell and I've put it down to the menthol. It really softens your lips, but if your lips have a tendency to peel, I'd definitely recommend exfoliating before application.

Pure Therapy Gentle Soap Free Body Cleanser

I love me a beautifully scented shower gel, but sometimes the added fragrance agitates my sensitive skin. I gave this a go last night, actually and I was really impressed. It's soap free, which felt wonderful on my skin and being as there's no added fragrance, it delivered that clean feeling without the irritation I usually get. The scent reminded me of Aveeno's moisturiser (which we all know I LOVE); It's just a lovely, clean, natural smell, probably because they both contain Colloidal Oatmeal which is great for soothing and moisturising dry skin. I just felt soft, clean and moisturised as I towelled off - fantastic!

This was just a bonus sachet. I'm not overly fussed, but it'll definitely come in handy, especially on my legs which itch like crazy when they're even slightly dry.

February BellaBox Unboxing.

Guys, BellaBox is getting all fancy-like with their boxes, and just I don't know how I feel about that. What was wrong with the classic blue and white polka-dot boxes, BellaBox? Why do you feel the need to confuse me with cardboard folded in to fancy little envelope boxes?

Anyways, this month was s box tributed to Cosmopolitan's 500th issue. Seeming as I love me some Cosmo, and included was a copy of said 500th issue, this was alright by me and I was pleased for the most part of the contents of the weird envelope box.

Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion

I LOVE THIS DAMN LOTION!
I've used up about three sample sized bottles of this lotion in the past six months. I was so thrilled to have another one as I've just finished the one I have on my work desk. I haven't gotten around to buying myself a full sized bottle, only because I've already got that many lotions cluttering my vanity. Once I've used most of them up, I'll be grabbing myself a bottle of this badboy. It's such a nice formula, and doesn't irritate my sensitive skin. I have used it on my face a couple of times and I do feel it's gentle enough to do so, but I mostly just stick to rubbing it on my hands, arms and legs. It claims to be fragrance free, but it does have a faint smell. Not a chemically one, a natural, clean one. It reminds me of wheat and oatmeal. The formula is quickly absorbed in to the skin without leaving that sticky/slimy residue, instead, leaving my skin feeling soft and nourished.

ChapStick Natural Pawpaw Lip Balm

I've been running low on lip balms so this was a welcome addition.

We all know how effective ChapStick's line is, so I won't get too in to it. Pawpaw's a super nourishing ingredient, so the addition of a pawpaw balm to the range was a good move, ChapStick. Good move, indeed.

Original Source Shower Mint & Tea Tree

I've never heard of this brand, but that packaging's pretty rad. I've not used it yet, but I feel it'd be an ideal body wash to use in the morning to really wake you up, but could still be refreshing after a long day. The full sized bottle claims to pack 7,927 (so very specific) real mint leaves in to each bottle.. Which is cool. I honestly was expecting a scent that was overpoweringly strong. Yes, it smelly quite minty, but it still manages to be pleasant.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel

 I've not had much luck with Neutrogena products on my face, so I'm a bit nervous about using this one. It claims to release moisture continuously all day for that nourished glow. It sounds good in theory as my face is always so damn dry, I'm just worried that although it may moisturise my skin, it may go too far and leave it oily. I can just hear mum saying her famous "Don't be judging a book by it's cover, Christie", so I'll give this a go anyways.. Review pending.

Essie Nail Colour

 Oh Essie. I love you!
Essie is by far my favourite nail polish brand, but rarely will I buy it. $16 for one bottle of (not even gel) nail polish is a bit extreme for budget-friendly me. This box did contain a voucher for $6 off my Essie purchase at Priceline, however so maybe I'll treat myself. The colour I received was from their Summer range, a lovely ocean blue.


Sk'in Organics Skincare Regime - Oily or Combination Skin

 The fact that BellaBox makes you take a beauty quiz before you sign up was the reason I chose BellaBox as my subscription box for the year, and it's paying off every month as they tailor each box to your skincare needs. As I answered I have oily/combination skin, I got sent these particular sample sachets. I probably won't use the line smoothing serum, mum can have that, but I'll definitely be using the cleansing gel and rebalancing lotion. As this was a bonus product, I was quite impressed with the product quality; Usually I feel as though they just chuck a random something extra in the boxes as a 'bonus'. Upping the game, guys. All in all, I enjoyed mulling over this month's box, Cosmopolitan magazine in hand and was pleased with the products I received. As next month will be Autumn, I'm looking forward to (hopefully) different types of products to try!
